Reading15: ZENG WANTING

What I learned while editing Wikipedia is that it's a collaborative community, so it's easy for people to get involved in the community by making Wikipedia edits. Wikipedia has millions of editors and more people than many countries. The elements of Wikipedia as a community are made up of the practice or cooperation of those who use it. This cooperation takes place in a culture that strives to be guided and fought for by the principles of community acceptance and is defined by such actions.

Wikipedia attracts a large number of users because it is a collaborative community that is easy to participate in. In this community, people need editors who are friendly and respectful. If we understand Wikipedia culture, we know that a new, sophisticated, virtual culture will emerge in just a decade that will improve our skills in editing Wikipedia, reduce tension, and increase our familiarity with the project. When we edit Wikipedia articles, we are connecting with others, we are not working alone. Wikipedia is a community where people work together and communicate with each other. Wikipedia's culture is important enough to make a difference in the real world. The Wikipedia values associated with the Free Culture Movement have influenced legislation in the United States and elsewhere. Overall, Wikipedia's vibrant culture and the dedication of its community have played an important role in creating a vast and reliable resource of knowledge available to people around the world.

The assignment for editing Wikipedia is different from that for other courses. Wikipedia editing is the editing of an existing website. We can learn how to use the world's largest website Wikipedia. When we are doing this assignment, we are really learning a skill, which I think will be of great help to our future development. When we do other assignments, we may just finish the preparation and submission of the document by ourselves, while when we do the editing of Wikipedia, many people will pay attention to our editing, give our editor some feedback or discuss with us. Because of these feedback or discussion, I can learn some practical knowledge very quickly and acquire some new knowledge through the experience of others. Wikipedia is a big online community, and it's interesting that I can communicate with a lot of people while editing it. It makes me feel like I'm not doing this assignment alone.
