Reading15: XU RUO CI

This semester was the first time I lifted Wikipedia and Wikipedia editing. First of all, I got to know a little bit about Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a multilingual online encyclopedia operated by the Wikimedia Foundation and created and maintained as an open collaborative project featuring free content, free editing, and free copyright. Compared with traditional encyclopedias, the most important feature of Wikipedia is the adoption of an open spirit.

I also participated in the Wikipedia editing process with other editors as I was learning. Learned many, many tips and tricks about editing Wikipedia. For example, replacing wrong sentences or words, adding more new content, removing wrong or missing links, etc. I also learned how to rate and leave comments on a Wiki article, and left my comments and suggestions under many of them.

Wikipedia is a collaborative platform of volunteer editors. Participating in the process of editing Wikipedia has taught me to collaborate, consult and discuss with others in order to co-create and improve knowledge resources. I also felt joy and application in the process. And editing Wikipedia requires extensive research and information gathering on relevant topics. Through editing Wikipedia, I have learned how to effectively search, filter, and organize information in order to provide accurate and reliable content. Also when editing Wikipedia, one of the important principles is fact-checking and citation. This means that I need to verify the accuracy of the information and provide credible sources to support what is being added. By editing Wikipedia, I learned how to fact-check and cite to ensure that the information provided is credible and reliable.

I think this semester in Wikipedia has been an amazing experience and I have enjoyed it. Unlike previous one-sided assignment submissions, I was able to get more people's opinions and suggestions for my assignments in Wikipedia, and I was able to offer some of my opinions for them. This kind of assignment is very interesting. I feel like I'm not doing an assignment, but participating in a global forum discussion. And I think I will always be involved in wiki editing in the future, it was not only very interesting, but also gave me a lot of new ideas and understanding, and gave me a lot of different suggestions, which I think is very good.
