Reading15 - 진심이 CHEN XINYI

 1. I learned to focus on one thing. Compared with Baidu Encyclopedia, like a garbage can to collect everything, Wikipedia editors can be said to be delicate and rigorous. You can see Wikipedians all over the world seriously editing entries. Some of the entries even go down to the local Chronicles of the 1970s and 1980s. And Wikipedia's strict copyright rules mean that all text must be self-written. This is the absorption and transformation of knowledge, improving the ability to summarize and express, which is of great help to the reading of argumentative texts. All edited items are very detailed, and one item solves a large number of problems. No monetization, no advertising, simple interface.

There seems to be some value in writing alone. But in Wikipedia, it's not very desirable, and even though there are templates to follow, it's still boring! After a long time used to do things so simply, silently checked the newspaper, made a record, fill the entry, time in the past imperceptibly. The process of writing an item, from start to finish, can only be done carefully and with focus. Every time carefully write a short paragraph, marked the source, point sure, super happy. You know, once the release has a lot of people looking at the changes, it's nice to work with people who are unknown but have the same interests. In addition, I had a lot of kind people help me when I first started writing, such as photo block exemption, writing code and so on. Enthusiasm can affect each other.

2. I know more about the culture of my hometown
At the beginning, I wanted to write from the entry of my school to the entry of my hometown. It seems natural, but in the end you find that you don't know much about the history and culture of your hometown. This really makes people ashamed, and then all kinds of books to find materials, some things sound "not common sense?" However, in order to prove it, I often have to think of many ways, and I will go to see the photos in person. As a result, not only do you know a lot of historical stories, but you even get a bonus. The entries of their native places are basically empty, and many have no entries at all... I hope that more and more people will write Wikipedia in the future, and write out the knowledge or knowledge we know about our hometown through Wikipedia, and share it with everyone in the world.
Once I was browsing an entry three years ago, I saw that the author had worked hard for it, and finally there was a picture that was really unavailable, saying that it was a photo of an ancient well taken in an ancient town in China (no longer open to the public). The author said that even if the excellent items were finally reviewed, there were still some shortcomings. However, the author said that he happened to travel to the ancient town last year and really wanted to take this photo to make up for his shortcomings three years ago. However, because of the particularity of the photo, the owner of the ancient well could not be found. Even if he asked someone to look for it, he couldn't find it. Forced to, the author can only sneak in to take pictures, like a thief. The whole time I was terrified, trying to sneak into people's homes, go in and take pictures, and when I was done -- it really felt like I had survived. Later, the author said that in retrospect, he asked himself why he did it? Do you get paid? It sounds crazy to do something for nothing. (It is also crazy) Although he said that he did not like Wikipedia very much, he said that he seemed to really like the free encyclopedia when he decided to go out.
It made me very moved. I also often don't feel like a Wikipedian. But I hope to be worthy of the name one day. As a novice, I have encountered too many difficulties in Wikipedia, but I would like to persist. It must be because there are too many enthusiastic people who warm me and make me surprised by some changes. Therefore, I really appreciate the guidance of the professor and the help of the students. I sincerely hope that Wikipedia can become better.
