DYK first appeared on the homepage on February 22, 2004. Wikipedia aims to build and maintain an encyclopedia covering all branches of human knowledge. On the English Wikipedia, hundreds of new articles are created and more are expanded every day. dYK presents new and improved content by presenting a series of facts, some with images that link to selected articles. dYK section presents new or expanded articles that have been selected through an informal review process. And the selection of DYK articles depends on a set of criteria. You can nominate your own or other people's work for DYK.

DYK sets up a special award to recognize editors who have contributed to Wikipedia.

    DYK provides opportunities to promote and gain attention for new articles. This can incentivize users to contribute more and lead to increased interaction. Therefore, DYK is believed to have made a contribution to the advancement of Wikipedia, and the likelihood of that contribution decreasing in the future seems low.
