Reading 14--LI MINHUI

 1.Summary:

DYK first appeared on the homepage on February 22, 2004. Presents some new or expanded articles selected through an informal review process. This is no ordinary trivia section. DYK showcases new and improved content by presenting a series of facts aka "hooks", some of which are accompanied by images which can be linked to selected articles.

The main purpose of DYK is to showcase new and improved content, highlight the diversity of Wikipedia information, provide facts on a range of topics, and recognize editors' work to expand and improve Wikipedia, thereby helping to retain editors and continue to improve content, readers are encouraged to edit articles that appear on DYK or to start their own, thereby facilitating the recruitment of new editors.

DYK is made up of interesting facts about the latest content on Wikipedia. To nominate something to appear on DYK, an editor must write or identify new content and come up with an interesting fact. Articles that have been created within the last 7 days, enlarged at least five times, promoted to good status, and have one of these three elements will be eligible for DYK nomination.

2.Interesting point:

a.Since the main purpose of DYK is to showcase new and improved content, articles appearing on DYK will not be considered the best articles on Wikipedia. Articles do not need to be of high quality as long as they meet the basic standards stipulated by DYK.

b.For upcoming special anniversaries that include multiple nominations, requests should be made as early as possible, and articles intended for special occasions should be nominated within 7 days of creation, initiation of expansion, or promotion to good article status. Nominations should be made at least one week before the event date, but no more than six weeks in advance.

3.Discussion point:

How to judge whether an article is eligible for DYK? What are the basic criteria for selection?

Comments

  1. I think the article should have reliable sources cited to support its content. These sources should be reputable, independent, and verifiable.
