1. SUMMARY
There are guidelines for the proper use of categorization functions in Wikipedia. An important goal of a category system is to provide a navigation link that allows readers to know the essential characteristics of a topic and quickly find a set of pages for the topic defined by that characteristic. Categories are not the only tool used to find the associated set of pages. Other tools that can be used instead of or in combination with categories include lists and navigation boxes. Be especially careful when naming categories. Wikipedia's category system also consists of topic categories and set categories. A topic category contains items related to that topic, and a set category contains items belonging to a specific class. Sometimes there are categories that combine themes and sets. It is important to maintain a consistent structure when classifying.
2. INTERESTING/USEFUL POINT
1) The breadth and diversity of knowledge: Wikipedia deals with information related to almost any topic, so the category system shows the breadth and diversity of knowledge. For example, you can find any topic through categories in various fields such as science, history, literature, art, and sports.
2) Parent-subrelations and taxonomy: Wikipedia's categorical system represents a parent-subrelationship, and is classified from more general topics to more specific topics. This classification system helps you structure and organize your information.
3) Discover similar topics and related topics: Categories allow you to discover similar topics or related topics. For example, the "musician" category includes musicians from various musical genres, and the "movies by country" category shows the works of films from each country.
3. DISCUSSION
What would be the problem if you didn't keep the consistency and standardization of category classification?
