Advantages of using Wikipedia:

Broader information: Wikipedia has almost every type of information you need to find. Wiki pages contain information on different topics Ease of use: it is easy to find the information you are looking for in a few minutes. You can also easily learn about new things you've never heard of before. User collaboration: Users in different parts of the world can open the same document at the same time, making collaboration on shared data easier. Editing by everyone: Anyone registered with Wikipedia can edit information published on a Wikipedia page. Steps must be taken to ensure that only logged-in people can edit documents and have access. Information Control: Every edit or update of wiki information is recorded in the wiki software. If the wrong information is edited, the software can easily revert the changes to the previous version. Flexible: The program has no predetermined structure and can be used for a variety of applications. Instant content: Information is always updated instantly, you don't have to wait for specific publishers to update information. Wider access: Wikipedia allows non-technical users to easily publish information on wiki pages without any restrictions. References at the end of the page: A wiki page gives you references for all documents linked to the wiki information. Open Source Software: You don't have to worry about the licensing fees required to install an institutional wiki. You can choose from a variety of open source software programs for certain tasks.


Disadvantages of using Wikipedia:

Lack of confidentiality: Because anyone can edit information in Wikipedia, some confidential information may be obtained by the wrong people. This makes managing user access difficult. Disorganized information: Due to the flexibility of the wiki structure, published information can be disorganized. Spam: When everyone is left editing wiki documents, it opens a hole for vandalism and spam of the information being published. Measures should be taken to ensure that only logged-in people can edit wiki pages, and to reduce vandalism through automated spam programs. Inaccurate information is also published when certain editors make mistakes while editing Wikipedia. Information Credibility: Information on some cold topics has low credibility because they are edited by only a few people. Not for academic purposes: Wiki pages should not be used as a resource for academic research. Students may not use resources for academic purposes. Free content: Since the information published on Wikipedia pages is free, editors do less research. Editors without permission: Editors can write about people, use their names and pictures without permission. Any user can change information on a Wikipedia page. Some supporters of Wikipedia believe that if you don't like an article, you can fix it yourself. All you need to do is write compelling content for your users.
