1. choose a topic. 2. gather reliable sources. 3. follow a neutral point of view. 4. structure the entry. 5. use appropriate formatting and markup. 6. Write concise and clear language. 7. Be regularly updated and maintained. 8. Participate in community discussions.

In the wiki if you don't have time to write a full article, consider writing a 'stub'. Stubs are very short articles, usually just a few sentences. These are Wikipedia's "ugly ducklings". With some effort in editing they can be turned into "swans".
