Reading10: XU RUOCI
1, Summary:
Remix culture, also called read-write culture, is a term describing a society that allows and encourages the generation of new creative works or derivative works of products by combining or editing existing materials. By default, a remix culture will allow the refinement, alteration, integration, or other remixing of creators' and copyright owners' works, with or without permission. While combining elements has been a common practice for artists in all fields throughout human history, the growth of proprietary copyright restrictions over the past few decades has been increasingly limited by law. Harvard Law Professor Lawrence Lessig believes that remixing is the ideal concept of human creativity and has been working since the early 2000s to transfer the concept of remixing to the digital age.
2, Interesting point:
Remixes are not only found in traditional vocal music, music, film and video but also in books, legends, fiction and religion.
3, Discussion:
What other areas do you think remixes can appear in?
In the field of education, teachers can create more interesting and effective teaching methods and learning experiences by recombining and modifying existing teaching resources and courses.
ReplyDeleteI think there are many areas where remix culture will occur. Of course, copyright has the premise that there is no problem. Remix culture has the advantage of being able to expand existing concepts and serve as a starting point for new creation, but problems such as copyright problems caused by indiscriminate remixes and decreased morale of existing creators can arise. Personally, I think that companies can remix each other's to some extent through agreement.
