Reading 10--LI MINHUI

 1.Summary:

Mixed culture, used to describe a society that allows and encourages the creation of new creative works or derivative works by combining or editing existing materials. Hybrid culture, also known as literacy culture, is a reciprocal relationship between producers and consumers.Remixing has always been a part of human culture, and remixing culture has been gradually improving in terms of technology, communication methods, and copyright ownership with the changes of the times. There are also many examples of remix culture, such as Wikipedia, "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies", creating an editable world map of electricity bills, opening up for the public to contribute content for free, etc.Remix culture has emerged in software, music, movies, GIF, fan fiction, TikTok, etc. of digital goods. If remix culture wants to survive, it must be shared and created by others. Producers are also consumers, and consumers are also producers. The emergence of remixes is still popular in the mainstream, but it makes it almost impossible for artists to create or have an "original environment", and artists involved in remix culture are also prone to losing their original intentions and violating copyright or intellectual property laws at will. In society, the social value of remixing activities is polarized. A small group of people praise the social value of remixing activities, while the majority of people think that intellectual property rights are affected by other works. The significance of copyright law is that no more, a lot of people are criticizing mixed culture.

2.Interesting point:

GIF selects elements from movies, TV, or YouTube videos to edit small animations that usually last for 3 seconds. Creators can embody personal expressions by looping, expanding, and repeating. They are used on various media platforms and are most popular on Tumblr for punchlines.

3.Discussion point:

a.What is the status quo of legal protection of remix works under the background of digitalization?

b.Is the copyright of remix works necessary under the background of digitalization?
