1. Summary
Wikipedia's culture can be explained by using a jigsaw puzzle metaphor to explain the interdependence of neutrality and integrity in the collaborative establishment of an encyclopedia. On a social platform filled with fake news and conspiracy theories, Wikipedia, which seeks neutrality and greater credibility, has become a safe haven in the eye of the information storm. Anyone with a thirst for knowledge can find refuge in Wikipedia.
People encourage each other, but different people have different ideas and opinions, so there is bound to be conflict. These incentives and conflicts have fuelled the growth of Wikipedia. Even if it disappears one day, Wikipedia is a great project resulting from people working together, and memories and appreciation will live on forever.
2. Interesting point
Communities change, but change is inevitable - and my efforts are necessarily fixed in a particular slice of time. Moreover, the 'golden years' are often subjective and relative. On wikis, contributors can communicate asynchronously and contribute incrementally. Tasks can be modular.
3. Discussion
How can we avoid Wikipedia going downhill or 'failing' as a result of social change?
