Reading5——HE YUNONG
1. Summary
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and an open content community at the same time. Neutral views and integrity are at the core of this collaboratively produced encyclopedia. "Neutral" should not be understood as a description of the encyclopedia, but as a The wishes and intent positions of its contributors.
Mutual aid and mutual struggle are the laws of animal life, so of course a world encyclopedia built by thousands of strangers will not be without scenes of mutual struggle. This is where an informal benevolent dictator is needed to gently guide the community, mediate Internal disputes among those who are well-intentioned, and ward off those who are dishonest.
Nothing is static, including Wikipedia, but it is changing for the better. I believe that Wikipedia will not disappear, and neither will the contributors to Wikipedia.
2. Interesting points
I find it interesting that people use wiki as a buzzword to imply that something can magically change business, government, etc. In the past, wiki was considered impossible by most people, but now it has proved its strength to everyone and has been recognized by everyone. It changed the rigid rules of previous encyclopedias and created a new collaborative encyclopedia.
3. Discussion points
What's your take on law professor Eric Goldman's prediction that Wikipedia would fail?
