Reading 8:List of hoaxes on Wikipedia- CAI XIAOHUA

 (1) Summary

This is a known historical scam on Wikipedia, and it exists to document scams on Wikipedia to improve our ability to detect scams. If a hoax has not been found factually false for more than a month, or has been reported in authoritative media, Wikipedia considers it noteworthy enough to be included in this list. Some edited entries are pollution of a large amount of real and credible information, and are also a blow to the credibility of the platform. Just looking around the world, there are quite a few similar things. As far as the information on Wikipedia's hoax list is concerned, there are countless fictional characters, places, tools, TV shows, and academic concepts.

(2)Interesting point

In 2012, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office published a new Apple patent called "Electronic Analysis of Pollution Technology." The emergence of this technology is mainly due to the consideration of protecting user information. Brands can confuse and protect real information by continuously providing wrong information to data collectors.

True and false, false and false, true and false, this method may be very effective in protecting personal privacy information, but it is just a kind of pollution to the real dissemination of information. No matter what kind of mood the makers of information pollution start producing, all they do is dump sewage into the sea. For all those who need to live in the sea, the impact is minimal, but it persists. You may be deceived by fabricated stories and blinded by empty knowledge at any time. This kind of information pollution is like planting landmines on a deserted street. Although it cannot hurt people in a short period of time, it will explode one day. It’s just that there may be more and more such bombs. The existence of deepfake, the Internet, and various image editing software tools can create more real and convincing content and pollute real information.

(3)Discussion

Is the problem of information pollution around you serious? What can effectively alleviate information pollution?
