1. Summary


Wikipedia, where various volunteers are active, has traditions and customs for collaboration. Through the Linus' Law and broken windows theories, many people's efforts can quickly resolve malicious or incorrect edits. Doing constructive work for development is much more meaningful than doing unnecessary work, so rational editors prefer constructive work. Wikipedia is about people collaborating. Clearly, even within it, the interactions between people who focus on and gather around specific topics or articles are crucial.

To prevent biased articles from being created, Wikipedia has developed customs through trial and error. Wikipedia's people collaborate based on "neutral perspective" and "good faith assumptions." Their activities can be likened to a puzzle. The fact that a huge community like Wikipedia has done what it has done so far under precarious customs (relying on human conscience and good faith) is remarkable. However, change is inevitable.

2. Interesting point

The culture among Wikipedia writers chosen by Wikipedia is interesting.

In my opinion, people within an easily accessible anonymous internet site tend to be nervous or show meaningless attitudes.

In order to achieve its educational goal of becoming everyone's encyclopedia, Wikipedia needed to regulate anonymous writers. There is a need to be especially strict when dealing with anonymous individuals. Nevertheless, the current culture of Wikipedia's writing method is on the very lenient side.

Whether based on good faith or authoritarianism, the process of transformation for Wikipedia is worth paying attention to.

It is an example of the changes in norms and realities of the largest internet organization.

Should Wikipedia's current writing customs change soon?
