Reading4——YE SIQI

1 Summary

Wikipedia allows anyone to edit, and everyone can browse, create, and change the text.Wikipedia is a mixture of democracy, meritocracy and dictatorship.Usually most of the content is discussed and revised by the general public, usually in the form of democracy. At the same time, Wikipedia's system has experienced wikis as administrators responsible for removing vandals and blocking malicious vandals' accounts. On Wikipedia, anyone is usually free to create new entries and edit existing ones, and each one must be voted on to keep them, minimizing errors caused by inadequate knowledge of one or more people.

Since Wikipedia allows anyone to edit, there is no guarantee of authenticity or reliability of content; disagreements, controversies, and editorial battles will persist. For bad editing, administrators have the right to delete pages, block articles that are being destroyed, or delete insulting conversations in case of serious community disputes, and even stop violating users' editing rights. In addition, managers do not have any special powers in decision-making.

2Interesting point

Since Wikipedia's entries are written collectively, it is impossible not to be debated during the writing process.Wikipedia does not guarantee the correctness of its content, but it usually requires an objective, neutral, third-party description of the content. In the process of editing Wikipedia, two or more editors cannot agree on an issue without merging, so they constantly alter each other's edits to maintain their own views. On the premise that the content has been agreed upon, frequent alterations and anti-falsification of entries are usually included in the scope of editorial warfare.

3Discussion

Should we remain neutral on views that are inconsistent with conventional values?

Comments

  1. I think there are times when we should be neutral. When we face things or values that we don't know very well, we shouldn't draw conclusions casually. It is okay to remain neutral and then move on to understanding observations.
