1 Summary

While "wiki" is often used as shorthand for Wikipedia, which is a collaborative online encyclopedia, the term "wiki" actually refers to a type of software platform that allows multiple users to create, edit, and collaborate on web pages or documents.
In other words, a wiki is a technology platform that enables collaborative editing and content creation by multiple users. Wikipedia is one of the most well-known examples of a wiki, but there are many other wikis that are used for different purposes, such as collaborative project management or knowledge sharing within organizations.

2Interesting point

While there are certainly challenges associated with collaborative content creation, Wikipedia has proven to be a highly effective platform for harnessing the collective intelligence of its user community. It has become one of the largest and most popular sources of information on the internet, with millions of articles in hundreds of different languages.

3Discussion

What does the success of Wikipedia show? Will there be a second 'Wikipedia'?

Comments

  1. I think the results of Wikipedia show that free knowledge sharing is possible and I think there will be platforms similar to Wikipedia but different from it, for example more focused on user discussion or just on knowledge sharing.

  2. I think the success of Wikipedia show us people in a positive state about sharing knowledge with each other! It will be hard to emulate the success of Wikipedia, which is now arguably the best at this kind of collaborative community.

  3. For example, Wikipedia has a low barrier to entry and is easy to gather popularity, its rich content brings a large number of users to participate, and its large user base ensures the quality of its content. However, in order to achieve the same effect as Wikipedia and to show a positive development trend, the pure Wiki model represented by Wikipedia must be improved to some extent, such as adapting to the higher interaction requirements of members in professional and organizational fields, improving the single text-based interaction mode We also need to enrich the interaction channels.
