 1) Summary

Wikipedia has a long history of development and it didn't happen overnight. Wikipedia couldn't have developed without all the people who had ideas to benefit the world. Wikipedia is free and does not exist for profit. As the internet grew and became more widely used, people began to plan and build interpedia. The "sum of all human knowledge" is the ultimate goal of Wikipedia, and the World Encyclopedia is the repository of knowledge to which all humanity aspires. The "necessary conditions" for the emergence of Wikipedia

2)Interesting point

“To collect all the knowledge now scattered over the surface of the earth, to make its general structure known to those around us, and to spread it to those who come after us.”

Regardless of their wealth, social status or academic background, people have the opportunity to participate in the editing of Wikipedia, sharing their experiences or knowledge to all people through this Wikipedia that covers the world. I think that's what makes Wikipedia what it is and what impresses me the most.

3)Discussion point

Wikipedia exists on the basis of objective, unprofitable criteria. But as the Internet grows, will it be influenced by politics, international trends and other factors? If so, does the very existence of Wikipedia change??

Comments

  1. I think Wikipedia is different from other web2.0 social networking sites. Wikipedia focuses on the sharing of entries and knowledge, so generally speaking it will not be affected by political factors. But now, any form of public opinion is gradually being used as a political weapon, especially the rapid modernization of science and technology, the rapid development of the Internet, and the social network is gradually showing its power in public opinion. Perhaps because of international trends, Wikipedia will also have some politically induced content.

    1. I agree with you! Wikipedia is more of a knowledge collection site, but also contains features for users to discuss via knowledge pages.
