 1. Summary

Wikipedia is based on internationalist ideologies such as Otlet and Wells. Although projects based on internationalist ideology during the 20th century failed due to the limitations of the times, it is said that they have greatly influenced the formation of Wikipedia today. In addition to its ideological base, Wikipedia can be said to have been significantly influenced by previous technologies. It is the Xanadu Project and the Gutenberg Project. The former implemented hyperlinks for the first time, and the Gutenberg project realized an ideal similar to Wikipedia by implementing e-books. Through these results, Wikipedia has started as a project that makes "the sum of all human knowledge" accessible to everyone, and to date, it can be said that more than that has been properly maintained. In other words, Wikipedia is the result of realizing a 100-year vision as a reality, and it proves that the implementation of intellectual works that everyone can access is never a fantasy.

2. Interesting point

Previously, I only thought of Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, but it is interesting that the ideal that Wikipedia is trying to achieve is never built by a short time, but is rooted in the ideology of internationalists of the 20th century like Wells.

3.Discussion point

Wikipedia has the advantage of being editable by anyone, but it is also a disadvantage. How do we cope when someone deliberately distorts and edits facts?
