1 Summary
The central goal of the category system is to provide navigational links to Wikipedia pages in a category hierarchy where readers can navigate and quickly find the set of pages on a topic defined by these features once they understand the basic characteristics of the topic. Categories are not the only way to enable users to navigate through sets of related pages. However, other tools that can be used in place of or in conjunction with categories in specific situations include lists and navigation boxes.
When naming a category, take special care to name it accurately. Do not capitalize regular nouns unless they appear at the beginning of the title. Subject categories should be named in the singular, and collection categories should be named in the plural. As with lists, avoid using descriptive adjectives in category titles. There are some other different rules.
2 Interesting point
Wikipedia articles with categories allow me to find a collection of categories particularly quickly and accurately when I want to find a particular type of Wikipedia article, which is very convenient.
3 Discussion
How can I be sure that the Wikipedia article is classified correctly? What can be done if it is wrong?
